The Revolution Will Not Be Circumcised

Two Law and Order series will premiere on American television next week: Law and Order: Los Angeles on NBC, and Law and Order: UK on BBC America.

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police who investigate crime, and the Crown Prosecutors who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.

Unbeknownst to me, Law and Order: UK is a thing, now in its third season. Each episode is an adaptation of a Law and Order script from the 90s.

Also unbeknownst to me, before Law and Order: UK, Dick Wolf oversaw a Russian adaptation of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and a French adaptation of Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

No German adaptation of Trial by Jury?

Wolf: I'd love to see a Middle Eastern version – I'd love to do it in Cairo.

Wouldn't a Middle Eastern version just be Law?

A weekly British version of ESPN's Pardon the Interruption premiered on ESPN UK in August. It is PTI's fourth(!) localization, following Mexico, Australia, and Brazil.

I cannot find any video of PTI: UK, but you can sample ESPN Deportes' Cronómetro (Spanish for "stopwatch") on YouTube.

The Brazilian PTI is called É Rapidinho ("it quickly"?).

In the desert of Saudi Arabia, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the vendor who claims the person stole some fruit, and the intimidating henchmen who cut off their hands. These are their stories.
