I'm not sure why alumni magazines exist, but I have a lifetime subscription to the UCLA one, presumably because my parents donated an undisclosed sum of money to the school in my name.
I saw this on the back cover of the July 2006 issue of UCLA Magazine:
Introducing the Bruin Family Experience
August 10-13, 2006
Enjoy a four-day vacation at UCLA including all meals, lodging and fun-filled activities.
Take advantage of all that UCLA has to offer: recreational facilities, museums, educational lectures and more!
Alumni pride has its limits, and using vacation days to return to college and attend lectures is one of them.
Seriously, what a terrible idea.
